Descriptions

Katao is a lesser-known destination in the state of Sikkim, India. It is located in the North Sikkim district, near the town of Lachung. Known for its stunning natural beauty, Katao offers picturesque landscapes, snow-capped mountains, and scenic valleys. It is a great spot for snow-related activities, including trekking, snowboarding, and photography.

Typically, tourists visit Katao for solitude and to enjoy the serene environment away from the hustle and bustle of more popular tourist spots in Sikkim. The area is also characterized by rich biodiversity and vibrant flora and fauna.

To visit Katao, special permits are usually required as it's close to sensitive border areas. The best time to visit is during the winter months, from December to February, when the region is covered in snow. However, the monsoon season (June to September) should be avoided due to heavy rainfall and landslides.

If you’re planning a trip, consider including nearby attractions like Lachung, Yumthang Valley
